I had a snow day today, so I took on a project. Several years ago, I acquired a Spector NS2A in non working condition. There was no output, so it was cheap. I gutted it and rewired it with an EMG Preamp, but I never got rid of the original HAS LABS preamp. I think the previous owner put real EMGs in it, but the preamp is for passive pickups (or he didn't convert it right), and never got it working again. I did. I played it. I flipped it, but kept the Pre.

I have a Spector NS2000 with Bartolini pickups that's wired passive, and a Korean HAS LABS Preamp just sitting here, so I started fucking with it. I had to jump some wires due to broken posts, and flow the circuit in spots, but it looked like it could work, so I tested it. I put a battery in it and crimped together a jack and a pickup and tapped on it to get sound. It worked!

I took my NS2000 apart, forced that bitch down in the holes and soldered it up. I lose the ability to split the coils, but this should be better, right? The hot post on the jack broke as I was taking it apart, but I had a spare and just replaced it. It worked, but the pots were scratchy. I douched them out and checked again, and it works. The board is hacked up on the underside and looks like shit, but it works. I now have a K-HAS Pre in my NS2000.

Of course, none of the knobs I have fit. I need to go buy new knobs that fit these posts....

...as soon as the weather breaks and stores are open. It's still fucking snowing.

I've got a US EBMM Sterling that the previous owner stripped the pre out of, I want to put the trickfish pre into it. Waiting till after the holidays to order one.

Let see the NS2000.

I'm not going to post pictures of it on the internet without knobs. That just wouldn't be right. Let me get it dressed first!

I'm just happy it works.

I have a Mike Starr Euro 4LX. It's a great bass. I tried a Haz clone. It was nice, but not as nice as the Tone Pump.

I had to order knobs, since none of these fit. Weird that the Korean preamp has 1/4 inch posts instead of 6mm.
