Reverb & The Rebel...

So I've never had to go reverb shopping up to this point because all the amps I've ever owned had it on board. That being said, I'm a straight up noob when it comes to Reverb pedals or standalone tanks. Any recommendations? So far, I've looked at an EH Holy Grail & HG+ as well as the Boss RV-5 although I haven't had a chance to try any of them in person, just samples from the Web and a few Youtube vids. Also for those of you out there running a verb pedal or tank, do you run it in front or in the loop?

Hi there. If you are going to run the amp with lots of preamp distortion, in other words - with the gain knob high, you'll want to run the reverb in the loop. Otherwise your reverb sound will turn into a mess of noise. If you are running the amp clean, with the gain knob low, or distorting with a pedal, then you can run the Reverb through the front.

Keep in mind that the Rebel does not like all types of pedals through the loop. Some might be noisy. Also, you'll definitely want a pedal with true-bypass if you are going to put it in the loop.

So... my recommendation is: A Digitech Hardwire RV-7 Reverb. It is perfectly clean and compatible with the Rebels loop and... it has true bypass. Sounds awesome too! I still like the sound of a reverb tank, but this pedal is the next best thing!
