I mic'ed up the amp using a Randall 2x12 1x15 cab and used an assortment of mics, but in the end winded up with (2) 57s on the 12" speaker (I may have to get a Mesa 4x12 at some point).
I then captured the profile- it's not quite 100% the same as mics but comes out pretty close. I aplied a slight eq on the KPA, but I may have been overthinking/overtweaking it...I'll have to try it without
I used the Red Vintage on all these guitars; I like the wholesomeness of the mids...but I may need more time with mic placement to get a little more sizzle. My recent tones before this have been so sizzly that I fear I went extreme the other way, but this is getting real close to the tones I love. In the room the amp is AWESOME, it's just a matter of time before I get the magic mic placements. I'm using an Epi 7 string LP with MMans, which is a lot darker than my other axes, so that plays a part.
I have a profile of the Red Modern too, I'll try that next...I'll need to fix up those drums too...tedious but necessary
