Here is a rough mix of “Border Towns” - the first track to my album based on Marco Minneman’s 52-minute drum solo to be called West ZooOpolis. It begins to segue into the next tune at the end of this track. My buddy, Kevin Freeby is on bass. This tune pretty much introduces many of the musical characters you will meet throughout the album. I’ve been working pretty hard on this nightmare for almost a year now, so please give me your critique on the mix, as I need to be DONE!

Sounds amazingly good man.

IF I had to make suggestions, it would be this, At some point, particularly in some parts, I feel their is just a tad too much wetness to the efx on the guitars, I love some efx man, can't remember where, but there was a part or 2 that I felt it would have just a bit more presence with a tad less sauce on it. I am finding myself backing off the efx just a little bit more now-adays

I lose the bass during some of the moments as well, the level is just right and the low end is just right I think, perhaps adding some mids to the bass tone would help it give a bit more presence, without overwhelming low end or adding woofiness. Or maybe just a tich of drive on the bass sound (tiny bit of distortion mixed in to help it sit in without getting too boomy)

Like I said, just tiny tiny things I noticed and nothing I would really care about changing on the mix, but if I had to think of something, that would be it. I think the most important would be to try to get the bass have a bit more cut through. Bass is tough to get to shine through sometimes.

And maybe knock down the banjo a Db, at the end of the banjo solo at least

This is based on a decent set of computer speakers and sub, played off of Soundlick, which is probally a bit reduced.
love the drums and guitar sounds man.

Very cool stuff.
Any chance of you guys coming back to San Luis Obispo?? I think I first heard some of your music about a week after you were here before. Wish it would've been a week before.

There is a chance we may do a Cali-Washington junket this summer, but have to really make sure the booking arrangements are going to cover the ridiculous price of gas coupled with the extended distance out here in the west. Also, as you may well realize, it is really tough to promote this kind of commercially-hostile music! Anyway, SLO is a cool hang cause of the EB factory and some friends in the area.

John I really liked it and I wouldn't change too much, it landed in a pretty cool place.
