RM50 combo and ohms question

I have a RM50 combo with a 16 ohm G12T75 in it. I also have a TM2X12 that is 8ohm in mono mode.

Here is what I want to do: replace the 16 ohm speaker in the combo with an 8 ohm greenie type of speaker. Once I do that I should be able to run the combo speaker along with the TM2X12 as long as I set the ohms on the amp to 4 correct?

Thank you. I was pretty sure that I was correct in that calculation but needed some reassurance. I don't need to blow anything up.

Let's see how I do with the multimeter I bought today to check the bias on this thing now.

Well I didn't find a H75 or ET65 yet but I did pick up a G12K100 in 8 ohm to drop into the combo.

I will be able to load it up, hook up the TM2X12 in 8 ohm mono, set the combo to 4 ohms, and then ROCK tonight!

I also am trying out a Grail module for the first time tonight also. Should be fun.

I love my K100... great speaker.

That is what I have read. I stumbled across this on accident when I was really looking for a H75 or ET65. A fellow Buckeye state resident had one for sale and I just happened to be driving through his backyard later in the week.

I am sure that I will have something to say over the next few days about. I am going to try the Grail with these speaker combo's:

G12T75 alone in combo
Elite 80's in TM2X12
G12K100 alone
K100 along with Elite 80's

The K100 sounds great. It really sounds good mixed with the TM2X12 cab. Now I want to try an ET65 or Scumback H75 in the combo!

Cool! I think the ET65 will sound very similar to the G12K-100. The scummie M75 will give you that greenback tone man. I've been on the lookout for one for a while too. Tough to find on the used market.......especially the 75 and 100 watters.

Really? I thought that the ET65 was a little more "greenie'ish". The K100 sounds a little bit brighter than the Elite 80's but that could be due to the enclosures. You had both for a while right? How close where they? If it was close enough for Rock N Roll then I might just focus my attention on digging up a Scumback. I will just buy a new one if that is the case. I don't have the patience to wait for a used one.

I honestly think you should maybe shoot for the scummie. Heck, if you want, I could take my ET65 out if you were in town any time soon and you could try it for a while. I'm not playing out now and I have a 412 I can always play through. I just felt they were kind of in the same ballpark. The K with some more bass, but the rounded top and the thickish mids are both there. But let me know if you want to give mine a shot.

Disagree here on the ET65 vs the K100. The k100 has more top end than a ET65, and has more low end. The K100 is more like a V30, but w/o the annoying mid bump, much better low end, and w/o the crispiness of a speaker w/ a small dustcap. It's a GREAT speaker IMHO. Both are great rather ;)

The scumback M75 does give you that greenback tone for sure. I'll let you know what I think of them after my quad gets here.... hopefully soon! :)

That kind of describes what I was hearing. Either way, the K100 is a keeper. I still want to try a Scumback though.

Buckeyedog, I will probably order one in a week or so. I will fill you in on what I think of it.

Guess my point was that although there are differences, I don't feel they are "major" differences.......enough to spend the $$ and make the effort to try one. But hey, give it a try for sure. The offer still stands!!

Yeah, both of you guys let us know how the scummies sound when you get them.
