Hey everlone,
I see that you're interested in one of these discontinued Rocktron/Egnater designed Vendetta 100 watt tube amp heads. Ok, let me give you my impression of the amp:
Ch.1 & Ch.2 and Ch. 3 & Ch. 4 have a shared EQ. There is a vintage/modern voicing switch for Ch.1 & 2 and Ch.3 & 4. and a bright switch for each channel. I like to set up the voicing switch for vintage on Ch. 1 & 2 and modern on Ch. 3 & 4. I keep the bright switches off except on Ch. 1, I might use the bright switch.
Ch.1: This channel reminds me of my friend's '65 blackface Fender Twin amp. It has a nice clear tone, but when you push it arond 3 o'clock or so it starts to compress and break up nicely. I like to activate the bright switch if I use humbuckers on this channel
Ch. 2 makes for a good low to mid gain rhythm channel or for cool bluesy leads. I consider it somewhat sounding like a Vox or a nice old tweed Fender with more volume behind it. I can nail that Bryan Adams/Keith Scott Vox amp tone quite easily.
Ch.3: My favorite channel. I consider this channel more like a modded Marshall tone. Nice gain, but still retains its clarity and doesn't get fuzzy. You can still hear the strings ring clearly. The density controls really complements the tone of this channel giving it more bottom end. Nice high gain '80s hard rock or heavy metal tone.
Ch.4: This channel was modified by Bruce Egnater by its previous owner before it came into my possesion. It sounds very much like Ch. 3 with more hot rodded Marshall gain tone. I tend to push up the gain on this channel for leads and have the voicing switch for Ch. 3 & 4 set to modern to really light this amp up!!
The serial & parallel effects loop, MIDI IN & OUT, slave output, exterior bias points, speaker impedance selector and the ability to use different types of power tubes makes this amp truly state of the art.
The Rocktron/Egnater Vendetta tube amps (not the crappy tube/solid state hybrids that are in production) and TOL 100 & 50 amp heads along with Egnater's handmade TOL 100 watt tube amp heads and IE4 tube preamps are bad ass and are very underrated by a lot of guitar players. You won't know how great these amps until you play through one, see how good they sound and how well designed they are for today's music. The great part about is that I bought mine for $700.00 and got an Anvil flight case with my amp.
