I read he's now endorsed by them and should be getting a signature model by early 2007, sounds awesome...

just found these pics of it's prototype...

ewww!

Im not liking that. It looks like the bastard child of Jackson/ESP/Ibanez - but in a bad way!

mmmmm, I posted this thread, was looking around on his forum coase I've not been on it ages THEN found the pics... I'm a bit let down to be honest, I thought I was going to want one.

don't mind that though hehe

Saw it awhile back. Looks awful IMO. He's playing those crappy Diamond amps too. The fact that he still always has his Conklin and Ibanez guitars with him says a lot.

yeah... he's got an Ibanez 8 string too on his site, would love to play it, it's huuuuuuuge

Rusty the, machine gettin a sig... Too bad it will have HZ's.

Rusty is one of the nicest and most humble guitarists around. My guess here is that he got an endorsement with Ibanez. He wanted the heel sculpted special to allow for easier higher fret access. However, Ibanez wouldn't exactly work with him in that department. In the mean time, Dean offered him an endorsement and said they will work with him to design his own custom guitar, hence the reason for the switch. Notice the cutout and the neck pickup on the Dean. That's my (and quite a few others) theory at least.

I agree, its fugly. Why do companies insist on this? I wonder how much input he really had on the overall look. If you HAVE to put a single inlay on there, why some squiggily uber tacky looking thing?

Headstock was probably made as close to Ibeenhad as possible. Same with the knob placement, switch placement and even the body looks a lot like an RG, but rounded.

I think he was referring to when Dean sells his signature guitar.

yeah, Rusty's a nice guy, answered quite a few emails of mine very quickly which always goes down well with me : )

and in context of 8 string tuning I believe it's like a 7 string with an extra high string, g# I think it might be... but he drop's his guitar a semi tone or a tone... I can't remember :P

He used to have a message board where he would respond to people. However, it was hacked and now it's gone. :( Is it G#? I thought he said F#?

Edit: FUCKING RIGHT DOGGY! They got their message board back up!

Edit Again: Low F# with bass pickups and extended scale:

Don't wanna make another edit, but for anyone interested on Rusty's 8 string Ibeenhad, check this out. Apparently, he doesn't like it....

Which again confirms why I, and many others, believe he moved to Dean. To quote Rusty, "You think I'd put out a guitar with a lame neck?" I truly think that Rusty's 7 string will be a great 7 string shredder. Still looks fairly "meh" though.
