I heard he was bigger than Van Halen in 1984, he will tell you all about hiring some scrub guitar player and his brother in 85 to bail them out.Crescendo curve lol. Sam seems to be leaning on everybody in the biz this year.
I know he's had money but he must be hard up.
Hey did you know he was in van hagar ? He'll tell you about it.
1984 was 40 yrs ago yikes. I saw Sam & his band open for Black Sabbath Heaven & Hell tour w/ RJD in Evansville Indiana summer 1980.I heard he was bigger than Van Halen in 1984, he will tell you all about hiring some scrub guitar player and his brother in 85 to bail them out.

Great show but i actually enjoy Sam better than Sabbath. Sams act was all high energy R & R.
Sam never needed VH to be relevant cuz he already was. I know VH is a big deal to him but me, not so much.
Seems the death of Sammy Hagar band was VH IMO and that version isnt' VH to me. not big on his stuff the last 20 yrs either.
I respect Sam a great deal but that respect wains everytime i hear him ramble about VH.
I don't know many singers that can pull off Layne Staley.
Those guys hang out with Chad Kroeger too so.....
Wasn’t that bad honestly. You ever tried to hit that chorus? It’s a serious belt you can’t hold back whatsoever
It's not about as hard brother. The slinky, greasy, dark harmonizing in 5ths shit. No one does AIC like Layne man. That's why a guy like me, who was a massive AIC fan in the 90s and has seen them in concert more times than any other band besides maybe Primus, barely pays attention to new AIC material. To me it all sounds like a Jerry Cantrell solo album.I'm not an AIC fan but i've heard everything off the first couple albums a million times
He's a great vocalist but someone like Danzig belts just as much and as hard
And that's not even getting into the types of singers in metal bands that I'm into, which is almost entirely made up of dudes that can sing like that

Listen to "Am I Inside" or the song "Dirt". THAT'S what I'm talking about brother. Not belting hard.
Layne is the one who got Jerry to sing in the first place dude. And taught him to harmonize. And that’s coming straight from Cantrell. And Jerry sang lead on most of the songs he wrote. The harmonizing is all jerry, not layne. Both writing and singing
Layne is far beyond anyone trying, just don't...Wasn’t that bad honestly. You ever tried to hit that chorus? It’s a serious belt you can’t hold back whatsoever
