same size and shape as jazz III, but less slippery?

Which pick matches that description? I love the size and shape of the black and red jazz III's, but I can't hold onto 'em...

Have you tried the ones made of Tortex? I find them easier to grip. I use the purple ones and like them better than the normal red.

I guess the tortex ones but I never liked the sound they produced. After playing with Jazz III's for so long, other picks just sound "clacky" and it's a sound I just don't want.

I think I might have a couple of the tortex ones. Are those the kind of chalky looking ones that start to bend a bit as they warm up? That's what I didn't dig about those...

That's the closest I could find.

A guy I work with swears by these picks. He gave me one to try and I liked them too, but I like the Jazz III better.

:)

Yep, those are the ones. I can't stand the Tortex in any other design but the JazzIII shape. Anything larger, they twist too much.

I had to switch to the Dunlop stubby picks. I just couldnt hold on to normal picks anymore. They would would twist or just drop. I play 3.0 now it doesnt get in the way for me.

i think dunlop recently started making ultex picks in the jazz III shape

personally i didn't care much for the ultex because while they have great grip and don't wear down as quickly as the tortex...when they do wear down they gat this nasty sticky/grindy feel that i just can't stand

I use the purple 2.0mm and love them. With my new rhythm lessons I was launching picks everywhere, these solved that problem.

try using a nail to carve a grid pattern into the back of one where you grip. I did that to a couple and it seemed to help a bit.

try as well drilling some holes on top of the pick, they help to prevent the pick rotating or sliding.

On the other hand I'd also have a look at the Ibanez P.Gilbert picks and the Pickboy Carbon Nylon Edge. They are slightly bigger than the JazzIII but have a similar feeling. Perhaps the pickboy is a bit "clicky" but worth giving it a try.

I like the red 1.0mm ones myself. The Stubbies grip nicely in all the gauges.

Those are great, I used them for a long time...for some reason I've been using the big triangle green tortex picks lately though.

I agree that they are hard to hold onto..maybe just a little bigger and they will be perfect for me. Anyone try these? ........ http://www.jimdunlop.com/index.php?page=products/pip&id=32&pmh=products/picks

Nice when they are new, but wear em out a little and they start to catch the string from dents and grooves in the metal..

in my opinion not worth the money.

I just ruff up my jazzIIIs with a nice every few weeks with a knife. keeps them scoreed and grippy

Brae

They going to start making ultex jazz IIIs, may be those will work

i like the Tortex Jazz picks, 1.14mm. i tried the regular Jazz IIIs and they were way too slippery. the tortex grip well for me.
