Well I went to the 3 Inches of Blood, Hatebreed, and LoG show last night, so here's my take:
3 inch- Well, can't say much as I missed them purposely. I heard a couple of their songs on the radio, and while the music sounded ok, I couldn't stand their singer.
Hatebreed- My first time seeing these guys. I've never been a huge fan, although I've always respected them for what they do. They put on a killer show. I got their right at the beginning of the set and I could not believe how loud they were. However, everything was mixed good so their live sound was really impressive. Their guitarist each had to JVM stacks and they sounded really, really good. Really good presence and energy throughout their set. Overall, I was really impressed by their performance and sound.
LoG- They're the reason I went to the show since they're one of my current favorites. They played incredibly well. I was really suprised, however, by their sound. It sucked. They were stupid loud. Remember, my comment on Hatebreed being loud? Well, kick it up quite a few notches till it starts getting into the uncomfortable range and there you have it. While it wasn't the loudest show I've seen, it's up there and should've been knocked done a bit. The mix was off the whole show too. The bass guitar and kick drums were too overpowering. The kicks had no definition either; when he ran fast kick parts it sounded like a steady hum. The most disappointing part was Willie's tone. It sounded like they had a crapped out speaker miked or a tube was shot. When they did sound check I was thinking to myself, "They're going to take care of that right?" Nope, it stayed the same. These aren't nit-picking observations by another musician either, as my wife had the exact same observations. Overall, the show was great though. Like I said, they played awesome and the energy was so thick you could cut it with a knife. I just wish the obvious would've been addressed.
