Hey guys,

I've been lurking around here for a while now, just gathering knowledge. I bought a Mod50 (truly amazing) and used it for the first time the other night. Have you guys tried using an isocab live? We played a smaller place the other night, vox and acoustics in the mics only. I couldn't turn up past 3, even at the low power setting. I'm curious if I should look into a Silent Sister, mic'ed to the FOH, or a hotplate to the cab. BTW- the amp sounded great at that level... No complaints. I'm just thinking from a stage volume perspective.

Second, any comments on the GMajor2? I've commandeered a MPX-1 from my studio. It works better in the parallel loop for my taste. The demo for the gmajor2 in the serial loop is impressive to me. I just don't want to lose any of sound quality of the Mod50 or a future E2 by using the serial loop for effects, if there is a better way. Perhaps I just need more trial and error. But, I'm welcomed to suggestions, as well just wanted to introduce myself.

Thanks for your time.

Welcome to the Egnater sickness! Congrats on the Mod 50.

I don't use Isocabs live, but I do use a Randall Mic Eliminator one of my live cabs. It sends a signal direct to board that sounds like a 57 on a V30. Soundguys LOVE it. It isn't a load device, just a extra output from the speaker cab to board that's sound optimized. Sounds great thru all the FOH I've used it at. Had the sound guy send that feed back to the monitor mix as well so I can keep the stage volume down. Very nice to not have to mic cabs.

As to the GmajII, I love it. Once the levels are set properly for the unit, it is very transparent and has some of the best effects I've found--at least in the type of gear I can/will afford. I run it serial--sounds best that way. I would think you could use it in the serial loop of a Mod 50 with the E2. Just put it after the E2 in the signal chain. Both amps would go through it before the return to the power section.

Enjoy the Mod 50!

I prefer to do the "series and parallel" deal w/ my effects. I use 2 Lexicon MPXG2s w/ both my M4 and my Mod50. Much prefer using certain effects in the parallel loop (delays, verbs, choruses, etc)....and others in the series loop (gates, tremelos, etc).

Just set up a buddy's rig w/ 2 GmajorII's, one in the parallel loop...and one in the series loop...and it was f-in AWESOME sounding!

That's the only way to setup a rig anymore for me!! :)

Thanks for the input. Using one in each makes alot of sense. I was going to sell the MPX to fund the Gmajor. Maybe I'll try both first. The mic eliminator looks cool. But I already have a PDI-09 for the studio/stage.

I bought the head without trying it first. I mainly went off of video demos and this forum (I did try the rebel and tourmaster at GC). When I was working with Frank to choose the right setup, I told him that I was looking for more than my Twin and a couple of pedals, he kind of laughed and said "this would be way more fun". He wasn't joking!
