Has anyone owned one of these things? I had never taken them seriously since as far as flying V's go I've always wanted/liked RR1, KV2, and Bernie Rico Vixen type stuff, but a local shop has one for sale and it looked better in person than I thought it would. I gave it a try and I felt like it played as good as or better than an ESP V (not LTD) sitting right next to it for double the price...however it wasn't a fair comparison as I felt the ESP was in need of a bit of a set up, and the strings were bigger than I'm used to.

It's going for $900 Canadian with a hardshell case...which seems to be a decent deal but it's hard to track down some of these things to do a proper comparison. I'll look deeper into it tomorrow. It's technically used, but according to the store they just transferred it from one store that went out of business to this one, and there's no visible marks anywhere on it.

I'm somewhat concerned that it's made in korea and has a Floyd Rose 1000 series bridge though...any thoughts on these concerns? Are they junk compared to the Originals?

I bought the Damnation because I really liked the graphics. Then when the guitar arrived I was amazed with the feeling, the sound and everything. It had a bit of neck dive, that's all. It's one of my favorite guitars. So much that I bought a second Holt signature as a backup afterwards. It really inspired me to compose songs and stuff. Whenever I played it I came up with riffs :) Amazing guitar. Better than some of my ESP's. I haven't tried any other Schecters though, so I can't compare.

I remember Holt in an interview about his sig model said he uses the same one, as in Korean made.

Ah nice, I'm glad I found someone that has owned one :) . Does it stay in tune well? Is there anything you don't like about the guitar?

It's a great guitar you won't regret it. It stays in tune very well and no problems with the floyd. I just had to put some cotton on the springs of the floyd to mute the spring sound, but I do that on all floyds. There's a bit of a neck dive but again it's a common thing in V shaped guitars. I use a custom guitar strap with a weight on one side to balance the guitar. But some people don't even have a problem with neck dive. This might sound strange but even though it has EMGs, to my ear this guitar sounds better than other EMG guitars I have. Maybe it has to do with not having the tone control. I liked it so much that I bought a second one as I said. The second one was purchased directly from Gary (that one was never mass produced), so I could compare the actual one he used on stage. They are very similar. I think they use the best wood they can find for his guitars, so it feels a little bit heavier. Apart from that no differences.

That's very helpful amigo, thanks for taking the time to post that. I think I'll head over there tomorrow and see if they still have it :)
