Went to the local Long & Mcquade, and left with a Randall Warhead in good condition which cost me all of $175. These go for about $450 - 500 on ebay these days. Also got myself a Randall RGP1000 pre-amp for $25.
Cranked em both up for a bit today an they both sound great. The Warhead is obviously a gain machine. Not very subtle. Actually sounds kinda loose on the low end by itself, but with the gain backed WAY off and my maxon od808 in front it's pretty damn tight and brutal to say the least, and loud as shit.
On to the the rgp1000... I had it running into the effects return on my VTM and was getting some great 80's metal tones out of this thing. I figure i'd need a real power-amp to hear its full potential though. Anyways, best $25 i ever spent.
