Everybody and their brother make a tubescreamer clone, but what about the SD-1? Anyone make clone of one of those?

Seems like the TS and SD-1 are the two kind of standard boosts that people use. All these small builders make a TS flavored clone, but I'm surprised no 'boutique' type companies make one. Only MXR and Digitech?

Reason I ask is I recently acquired a Cusack Screamer that I like more than my TS Mini. Would like to also have an SD-1 equivalent that is similar. I know people mod them, but it just seems odd to me there's not more builders out there making another version of these.

What Boss needs to get down and dirty and do, is just reissue an affordable OD-1 to the mass market. Your welcome BOSS!

There was a guy on here that did that every Boss pedal ever video and of all the drives, I liked that one the best. Even without a tone control it just sounded like it was voiced correctly so one wasn't needed.

Steve Sawall got it right. The Waza Craft SD-1 is the shit. You cannot find a better modded SD-1 than that. I have the BD-2, but I want the SD-1. Though I have all kinds of overdrives and tube screamers, and some experts argue that they're all the same shit, I like the individual flavor and feel of each pedal. The Waza Craft SD-1 fixes a lot of the issues with the SD-1, but like the BD-2, you pretty much want to leave it on modded mode all of the time.

The only real difference between an SD-1 and a TS808 is that the Boss has an extra clipping diode to make an assymetrical clipping setup = more hair, compression and bite than a Tubescreamer.

I love my plain old stock Japanese SD-1. It is the ice cream a la mode to the JCM800's apple pie.

Why the interest in a clone of a pedal that is still readily available and pretty affordable? Don't want the new one? Buy a used Japanese made one for less than $100.

I have owned several modded SD-1's that have all offered "improvements" over the "flawed" stock SD-1. I have disliked every single one of them. When I reach for a Boss SD-1, it is because I want the tried and true sound of a pedal that has sold millions of albums and not some changed version of it that some guy in his moms basement has determined will be an improvement of one of the classic overdrive pedals of all time.

Here follows a list of all the classic songs, and great guitar tones achieved throughout rock history by a boutique version of an SD-1:

Yeah, the only thing that's been able to contain my gear flipping is to just pickup classics and industry standards. Is there a pedal I'd like better than an SD-1? Almost surely, at least for certain things. But with the countless platinum artists, studio musicians, and weekend warriors getting great tones from it, the SD-1 and the like had better be good enough for me.

That said, it's fun running through a bunch of gear, so if you're just enjoying yourself, go for it! For me, the constant hunt was making me feel unhappy with what I had, which is not at all the point.

The Fulltone Fulldrive is a modded SD1 circuit.

I agree with others that the stock Boss SD1 simply works and there's no need for an alternative.

doesn't make a lot of sense to clone a pedal you can get for 30-40 bucks.
