Second bad Tweaker in 2 weeks...What gives?

So I ordered a Tweaker 2 weeks ago and it made a horrible popping/static sound that got louder and faster as the amp was on. I figured I'd send it back and exchange it for a new one. The replacement is doing the SAME THING. When I first turned it on I heard loud popping, static, and the distortion is extremely fizzy and it seems like there isn't a lot of gain on tap.

Does anyone know what could be happening? Could it be the tubes or is this something else?

My guess is preamp tubes- Not really a big deal; could happen to any amp. Talk to Nate- He'll take care of you. If it is tubes I think they are covered for 90 days.

Thanks! I decided to send back the replacement and just try one more Tweaker. I called Guitar Center and they recommended me just sending it back since I had only had it 2 days. Hopefully this one will work fine because I love the sound of these amps!

Yeah - sounds like a preamp tube. Get a couple and keep 'em around.

Have fun with the new amp.

I would also guess bad preamp tube. I had a similar thing happen, replaced the tube with another one and haven't had a single issue since. Unless you count me not wanting to turn the amp off a bad thing :-)
