Hello Diezel customers :)

I've bought an Einstein 100w and a brand new 2x12 Diezel. My concern is that i have a very fuzzy soud.
canal 1 clean is perfect,
Canal 1 Texas is ok but could be better
and canal 1 mode 3 and canal 2 sound really fuzzy.
The EQ seems to be not very effective.
The amp has a lot of punch but a lack of mids and smooth.

The preamp is loaded with 1TAD 7025 and TAD 12AX7A-C and Poweramp with TAD EL 34 B-STR. From the vendor, it's supposed to be the original tubes.

The poweramp tube seems fine (when i use the haed as poweramp only, i've go a perfect sound), so i suppose that i have to focus on the preamp ones.
Based on your experience, do you think i'm on the right way ?

I plan to use Ruby
V1 12AX7C5 HG+
V2 12AX7C5 HG+
V3 12AX7C5
V4 12AX7C5
V5 12AX7C5
V6 12AX7C5
(maybe HG+ everywhere)

I'm not looking for the Herbert metal tones, but something more "boosted marshall" with a nice overdrive...

thanks !

Tubes are such a personal thing.I have 100 Einy and am an old fart.I'm currently using Tunsol for v1&v6 and JJ for V2-V5.I get a pretty good marshall balls crunch in chan 1 pos 3.Power tubes are mullard el-34.I don't play big shows any more and this seems to fill my needs.Winged C's are the only other power tubes I haven't tried. The Einy will do many tones, just takes a littel time.C-4 has very interestingway of approaching pre voicing.Check out the older threads.Good luck.

thanks, but i already did and simply feel lost ;-).
I don't have tons of tube at home and don't want to damage anything. That's why i choose to go to the ruby's, i'm familiar with those tubes and looks like it 's or has been the default tube setting for the Einstein.

Maybe a new V1 or V3 will help.

Einstein:
V1 Used by both channels
V2 Used by channel 2
V3 Used by both channels
V4 Mixer & Loop Driver
V5 Return Driver
V6 Phase Inverter

Thanks, i've tested a change of V3 tube with some spare iv'e got at home (ARS...)

It's better, more balanced.

I've also tested V1 + V3 but not as good as just V3

Done another test replacing V3 with an old GrooveTube, better than the TAD. The tone diffeence between Ch1 and CH2 is now really noticable. Now i'm gonna work around V2.

Quick question here -- What tubes did the Einstein's ORIGINALLY ship with?

I think Ruby's are recommended (right?) but I've never been sure if that's what came with the heads from the factory.

Cheers and thanks for any info anyone can share!

it change depending the stock, rubys :

V1 12AX7C5 HG+ or TAD 7025
V2 12AX7C5 HG+ or TAD 7025
V3 12AX7C5
V4 12AX7C5
V5 12AX7C5
V6 12AX7C5

but I can be wrong...

i'm testing several tubes for preamp :
Sylvania
GT
Sovtek
Mazda
EH

On V2, the mazda 12ax7 is incredible, but seriously noisy :D

It's amazing to see the difference of tone you can get from the Einstein just tuning the tube, what an amp !
