I received my KH3 module today.

Overall, I like it, but I guess it isn't what I was especting. Not as "scooped" sounding as I thought it would be

For those that have this module, does it seem like the mid knob doesn't function as a normal mid control? It seems to change the whole character of the tone depending where you put it.

Am I hearing things or is this correct?

All I can tell ya is it has a *lot* of range...all the tone controls on the KH modules do....you can scoop the f**k out of it if ya want.

So how's the honeymoon going? Well, since this is the third time...I hope you're not a catholic ;)

I am loving the Eggy (as I knew I would....the MOD 50 is probably my favorite amp ever. Though there are a few others that are definitel contenders (VHT UL, CL50, Modena M90, Mark IV))

I've never heard a VHT at all but many compare the KH-3 to the VHT....what say you?

What power tubes ya rocking?

I think there are some similarities between the KH3 and a VHT in the dryness area (kinda really clean distortion), but I don't really think they have the same type of tone. VHT's tone always sounded like a super hot rodded HiWatt to me. The KH3 has some Marshall and Mesa characteristics to my ears.

You are right about the range of tone in each knob....HUGE. I am still feeling my way around this module.

I experimented with a bunch of power tubes already and am back where I usually end up....SED 6L6's. They just sound and feel right to me.

I will probably be spammig all the other tubes I have after I get a couple more pairs of SED's.

I never heard of the KH3 module. Man, Egnater really has to update thier website, they don't even have the EG5 listed on thier yet.

The KH modules are made for Randalls right? I know I can use them in a Mod50, but they're built specially for Randall modular amps, am I correct?

ahh gotcha, that makes sence, the kirk hammet line right?

Yup, Randall KH-1 = Clean, KH-2 = Gainy Rhythm, KH-3 = Insane Gain Lead/Rhythm

Gain platform started as a Plexi so we're told..but they changed the voicing I think.

I can't liken the KH-3 I have to anything in the Egnater line (but I've never heard an SL2...it's possibly this is Marshally enough to be close.)
