So, after 9 months with TJ I decided I need a true clean channel,
I emailed bogner and settled on 2 options:

1. They'll try to see if they can mod channel 1 to be a regular clean channel, if not-
2. They'll send me a rev blue instead.

I'm trying to prepare myself to the option that they wont get it right with the mod,
so, how many of you had TJ EL34's and rev blue and compared them?

Will it be harder to tighten the rev blue up? Would it be really that more bright like people say?

Thanks,
Daniel.

The answer is yes, the Rev Blue is a pretty bright amp in comparison to other Uberschalls. It's also kinda flubby and not tight at all by itself. However, this can be fixed with a Tubescreamer (which I used with mine). The Rev Blue wasn't my cup of tea, but you might like it.

Any recordings? jessus this is so frustrating if I lived in the US this could be easily sorted.

I'll say this. A properly dialed Tubescreamer is all you need to make this thing into a metal machine. I personally wanted a darker amp, but that's the only reason I sold my Rev Blue. There's plenty of gain and clarity in there, you just have to spend a bit of time tweaking settings and tubes to find what you like.

I'll be the owner of a Twin Jet in a few days, but from what I've heard and seen, I'd stick with a Twin Jet that doesn't have a completely clean channel and get something else for cleans. The Rev Blue seems to be a little less versatile and it's harder to dial something other than a very clean or very high-gain tone out of either channel. With the Twin Jet you can go almost as clean as a Rev Blue to a nice high-gain Marshall sound, and with the added presence and depth controls in the master section. The Rev Blue is probably going to be more difficult to dial in (I kept at it for nearly a year).

YMMV, but I'd stick with the Twin Jet.

I played the Rev. Blue and wasn't all that impressed...I think the TJ is tighter and has a better feel.

I dont understand what could you expect from a clean channel, if you want an overdrivenm sound you can just use an od pedal or a light boost infront of it, there are plenty of pedals that does that really well,
for a clean sound however, there arent really any pedals to my knowledge.

I'm still debating about sending it since I'm not sure if I'll be happy with a rev blue,
but the clean on TJ isnt really sounding like a usable clean channel.

ok, fXXk it, I just tried dial in the 2 channels together and this thing sounds amazing, cant let it go.

I'll buy an axe fx and use the 4cm for cleans and fx.

Don't really understand this recent talk of the Rev Blue being bright. There is also absolutely nothing flubby about how I run my Rev Blue. Much prefered it to the TJ's 2nd channel.

I had mine with a Bogner Uberkab, and unboosted it kinda sounded like a distorted bass amplifier lol.

Sounds like you had a bad one. The dude in your profile pic's best tone was with a Rev Blue Uberschall. If anything, the TJ is the brighter of the two. I wouldn't call either of them bright though, I'd say all version are actually very thick and dark sounding in general. There's certainly no night and day difference between the 2nd channel on the Blue and TJ, it's really splitting hairs and tenths of a % difference between the two.

Actually they used Rev 2 Uberschalls back in the COE and S/T days. :)

Here is a Question .Could you get a twin jet with 2 channel 1 .get he clean taper on the first one ..so use that channel clean to bluesy then run channel 2 as the Hotrodded Marshall, boost for leads ..It Guess it depends if you use that really low mid Modern hi gain ..for Me I dig the channel 1 cranked

You probably would want a different amp if that's what you're looking for.

WTF...!?!?! Bogner can't install the Clean Taper Mod on their own Ch.1...?? Makes no sense :dunno:

FWIW, given the risk of getting a Rev.Blue/2 back from my original TJ, I'd never send it. No dice. I went through every Uber out there and my fave by far was my Uber TJ. I unfortunately sold it, and to this day, it'd be the one amp I wished I would have kept. It was soooooooooo killer. Loved that tone!!

Peace,
V.

Channel 1 with the gain cranked is killer. I use it more than channel 2. This amp has two very usefull high gain channels. It was designed for a heavier edge. It delivers in spades with a thick chewy tone. It is not very versatile. If you want good mid/low gain and clean tones buy a different amp. You can get these tones useable but not good. The FX loop stinks also.

It would be nice if Bogner would Build a 50 or 60 watt TJ jr with a shiva like clean and Channel 1 of the TJ
