Setting levels on torpedo

Knowing that there is a means to set the ideal input signal going into the torpedo via the input knob, is there a recommended output level that should be used to optimize the sound coming out of the unit? I hooked the unit up to the remote software this morning and couldn't help but notice the lights on the output meter were very low. I truthfully never paid much attention to this before. Does this make a difference at all, or is it just a matter of setting the output for what's appropriate for whatever the output is going into, such as a mixer or recording interface?

ideally both the input and output levels are just touching the yellow and solid in the green on average. This will give you the best performance of the a/d and d/a's, drive gear downstream properly and match to a recorder or FRFR monitor. When using with an amp, once the input is set to match the amp, you should be fine although some Cab/mic combination may require a small volume tweak or EQ. When using the line input and the power amp models, it may be necessary to trim the output to allow for a considerable amount of drive from the power amp section settings.

If the sound is thin and not pleasant, there's a good chance the Torpedo output is clipping the input stage of the recording interface. Vice versa, if you cannot get enough level, make sure you are using a TRS balanced cable to a balanced line input

Nice reply and great info, even though some is common sense, I hope, it is alsways good to have reminders when using new gear and trying to get the best tones.
Thanks

I can add a little something:

if you are using the power amp (CAB, Live, WoS III or Studio), the effect of the Volume setting will more important if you have a high input level (meaning, you will get more distortion).
