Seymour Duncan Custom Shop response & turn around time?

Anyone have any idea what the response back to sending in a form to Seymour Duncan for a Custom Shop Pickup?

I filled out the form linked below. Didn't think I asked too much: Stacked Single Coil w/Ceramic Magnet - Same output and tone as a Seymour Duncan Alpha neck pickup. As well as some extra covers and a question on pole piece colors. I sent that form in early September and never heard anything back. Nervous to order and pay up front for something if it takes this long to just get a response back. What's the deal with custom orders from SD?

I did not order from the custom shop....but did order a pickup and a few other things and had it four days later. This was about two months ago.

I read it was better to call them directly. This was a few years ago I called and MJ picked up the phone, she was very nice I told her I wanted the custom Holdsworth model that Jake E Lee used in the white charvel. She said yup I have the pickup specs here, I confirmed the specs with her and she acknowledged this indeed was the pickup Jake used so I placed my order.

I don't remember it being that long of a turnaround. I was a good buying experience for me.

There are 100's of threads complaining about the lack of email replies from Duncan.
It seems to be their biggest weakness.
I'd agree with the other chap that it's probably best to call them

Noice! How did you like the pickup?

I like it better than the standard JB and It's still in the guitar, seems to have better low end definition and clarity. The JB is close but it is different enough in a good way IMHO. It is a my Jake Charvel replica.

Is there a separate number for their custom shop or will the normal contact number direct me to them?


Thing that really bugs me is when choosing Stacked Single Soils from their normal custom shop link, they only offer Alnico magnets. There has to be a way for them to use ceramic. They offer ceramic for Single Coil Sized Humbuckers, but I hate the way those things look.

My other guitar player ordered a custom pickup. Was told 6 weeks. Was nearly 4 months, and them being told to cancel the order before they got it shipped. Always had good luck ordering stock pickups though.

MJ made this pickup for me back in 2010. Here are the specs right off the box it's a JEL version of the Holdsworth.

I saw some interviews with Don Felder talking about custom pickups SD did for him so I thought I would try them through the custom shop. I filled out the form mid-May of 2017 and it took me just under a month to get them. They sound great and I couldn't tell much of a difference from the Rebel Yells they replaced other than they are lower output and a bit thinner but that's to be expected. Both great pickups.
