shiva 20th help needed

i have a shiva 20th about 2 years old. i turn amp on let it warm up then turn to on position and get a ungodly loud pop, turn from standby to off and get a loud pop with a loud squealing as the amp dies..makes random popping and crackling noises while in standby as well. amp does not make noise while in on position. power tubes have about 10 hours on them (kt88) and have been properly biased. any ideas? dont wanna let ups trash my amp when sending it to the west coast for repairs for something simple.
 
I mean, it could just be a dud set of tubes... those symptoms sound identical to when I had power tubes on the outs.
 
i dont understand how sound can come through while in standby?
 
Could be caps too. I would swap the tubes and if that doesn't work, send it off.
 
UPDATE ::

it was the power tubes kt88 , one tried to red plate today.. glad i caught it before it exploded. never though a tube could make noise when in standby but i guess i was wrong.
