Hey Egnater fans!
I previously had a Rebel 30 with the silent record feature but recently switched to the Renegade 1x12 combo.
I understand that the Record Out is not a 'silent' record feature on the Renegade. However, I've been using a Attenuator/Speaker Soak I got off amazon from Carl's Custom Guitars. It's an inexpensive attenuator and works fine when I use it on the signal chain from (main speaker out-->attenuator-->speaker) My tones don't suffer and I'm able to crank the amp up and get some extra tube flavor without shaking my house.
I figured if I can virtually mute my speaker output with the attenuator, I could get a full signal from the XLR/Record Out. I've had a hard time boosting that signal from my amp since the Record Out is dependent on the main volume knob. This makes recording at low volumes really difficult, hence the attenuator.
My problem is: Whenever I have the Attenuator on the sound that's recorded through the XLR/Record Out sounds muffled. I know it takes it's sound from the speaker out signal, but I'm confused how it would be effected when the Attenuator is further down a different chain? My only thought is that there's a signal being sent BACK from the attenuator to the amp along the speaker cable the the main out.
Sorry, if this is technical, but I was really hoping I'd found a solution to doing some quiet recording! The only reason I sold my Rebel 30 was the line noise hum on the clean channel. Otherwise, that amp was GREAT. Then again, I love the beefy Renegade! But any help here would be deeply appreciated. I'm all ready to track a guitar part and this hangup is a killer.
Thanks in advance~
