SL or EG 3/4 - easier to get with a pedal

Scenario:

You're going to a gig.
You have an RM100 upgraded to take dual channel Eggie Modules.
You already have two slots filled with a T/D and a V/X (or BMan and V/X if you'd rather)
You need an SL type of sound to play Red House (Live at New York Pop Festival)
And you need an EG 3/4 type of sound to play David Gilmour lead lines.
But only one slot left... Hmmm.

And... You don't want to be messing with pulling modules in and out during a gig.

Do you slide in the SL and bring a long a quality high gain pedal for solo work? (i.e. Toneczar Openhaus).
Or do you slide in the EG 3/4 and bring along a "Marshall in a box" pedal? (i.e. Catalinbread Dirty Little Secret.)

Obviously, it's possible to swap modules during a gig, but the thought doesn't please me.
I know individual tastes and reactions to different pedals will vary. I'm just looking for some input.

I'm mulling the upgraded RM100 route for the convenience of a head rather than going M4 and rack just to get the fourth module. I don't use many effects and don't have plans to integrate an Axe FX or similar.

Fender Clean (T/D or BMAN depending on mood and genre) and Vox Sounds are the core tones - so they've got to be there.

Thanks again for any input and shared experience.

SL all the way!!

Getting that in before the GnR guys show up!

SL B with with gain maxed can get you into 3/4 territory. (IMO) Also, if you have a good boost that works well with it, you will have PLENTY of gain for 3/4 territory.

3/4 will not get into SL territory.

It's the small roadbike frame theory;

You can ALWAYS use a longer stem and seat post and make a small bike ride big, but you can never make a big frame ride small.

T/D COD and EG3/4!!!! this way you have the blues covered clean fender tones, Ripping dark leads with the eg3/4. With the COD you get really good clean blues or soft break up and can crank Ch B and still get rhythm from Comfortably Numb or heavier. So in my Dual RMod100 I will have T/D COD EG3/4. COD and EG3/4 permanently and maybe GNR or T/D depending on the mood or music im playing.

COD can be really clean,I have a Jan Phillips 5751 in it and it still hits the Gilmour HiWatt rhythm from Comfortably Numb,Run,etc. :D

If you need VX tones the replace the T/D with the VX .....(VX COD EG3/4)

I don't know. I don't think an EG3/4 is necessary for Gilmour type stuff. It's generally a much higher gain module than typical Gilmour stuff.

Its great for lead. Gilmour uses a number of pedals (or combination of) from Pete Cornish, BK butler, muff, Rat and Boss pedals to boost his overdrive/distortion. With the EG3/4 I dont seem to need to push it with pedals and get a creamy Gilmour lead. I also use the COD Ch.B for the heavier rhythm parts.

Agreed. I sent the EG3/4 back because it sounded like my SL2 with a tube screamer or similar on in front. I kept looking down to see if I left my OCD on.
