We will introduce two set-neck versions of the Modern at NAMM. One will be the 2010 Limited Edition and the other will be a "Nuno" set-neck version of the Guthrie Govan Signature Model in all-Mahogany. Here are some pics of the first GG Set-Neck in the works for NAMM introduction.

The GG Set-Neck will have natural satin-finished Mahogany body and neck with Pau Ferro fingerboard. All the other specs will be the same as the extremely successful GG Sig model.

You can see that the neck-joint has been designed from bottom-up to ensure maximum amount of contact between the body and the neck. That is a very firm neck joint and the high-fret access is even easier now with set-neck heel.

The LE2010 SN and GG SN will be the only set-neck models available for 2010. We won't do custom versions of the set-neck Modern until 2011. The LE2010 will feature Alder body with Quilted Maple top, Vulcanized Maple neck with Indian RW fingerboard. You'll see the completed versions soon at NAMM!

So if these are the same specs as the bolt ons aside from the neck joint how do they differ tonally? Aside from upper fret access what are the advantages/ disadvantages?
Looks nice. I like the under construction pics, they seem much more interesting than the finished product photos.

Aloha, Rob.

That's hard to describe but I'll give it a shot. The way the entire guitar resonates with set-neck glued-in construction is quite different from a bolt-on. The sustain with the set-neck should be improved but there will also be a different type of feel and more focus on the fundamentals. I don't know how else to put it.

This GG model won't have the Flame Maple top, so that'll be different as well to a degree. We really won't know how it exactly sounds until it's finished. It's going to have very focused mids that will cut through like a red-hot knife through butter but still sound warm.

The heal on that looks nice and very comfortable to play. I will love to see the finished product.

Sawdust all over the printer! You have no idea how encouraging that is for me to see.

Ed, sounds like you're working towards achieving the Red Violin of guitars?

Sound great Ed, unfortunately it shows only the words image, instead of pictures?
