and waffled back and forth about whether I should keep it or sell it. I just could not get comfortable with the Super Wizard HP neck profile that they are using on all the new RGs. so I did some digging and found that "Wizard Prestige" profile was a little thicker. Well someone that I have done business with in the past just happened to have a 2009 RG Prestige 1550M for sale that has that neck.
So this arrived today and I must say the Ibanez wiki says vs the HP neck that it is 17-19mm v 18-20mm from 1rst to 12th fret but the Wizard Prestige neck on the 1550M feels much fuller with more shoulder to it than the HP neck. Even after playing it for just a couple of hours today (after I re strung it and did my usual fret polishing set up) I already feel much more at home on it. The neck on this is somewhere between the HP profile and the neck on my Charvel DK24. It's basically in un played "case queen" condition and it's already got crunchlab/Liquifire pickups in it so I feel like a i kind of lucked out taking a chance on this. It's a plain jane next to the 657MSK but it's much more playable, for me anyway. I found a guy very local to me that fell in love with the 657 so I sold it to him, but's close by in case I ever get buyers remorse, I know where to find it. So if anyone on here is interested in grabbing an RG but just can't bond with these paper thin necks, try a 1550, it's a diferent animal.

When I was 20 years old, I wanted the Ibanez Jem 777 really bad… problem was the fucking thing would cost an index finger. The desert yellow one… I would look at the Ibanez foldout pamphlet (had frank gambale, steve vai, Jennifer batten and few others in it) for hours wishing I had it but couldn’t afford it so I went with the RG760 in that funny purple color with shark tooth inlay. The other was the DYRG550. But it had dots on fretboard and I wanted shark tooth- superficial I was. That was the late 80s. Well anyway That fucking guitar sucked. I could not get it to play for hell. After trying and trying I gave up. Sold it for a PRS anniversary edition about 15 years later. Point is the guitar you got today reminds me of my purple color one. Fortunately yours plays well- I guess I’m trying to relive what I really wanted. Oddly. I hate the color of my PRS but it’s a phenomenal playing guitar. I got a jem 777 anniversary later as well. Yellow too. I love it. Plays well. I should have gotten the pink one too. My attraction to those flamboyant guitars comes from the 80s in me. I’m stuck.

Does this ever end? :)
So now that I know which Ibanez rg neck profile works for me I started hunting around to see if I could find something a little more "mature" to play than this laser blue 1550M, I love the way it plays but this color scheme is not really me(I may just change the pickups back to black)
Sooooooooooooooooooooooo :)
Sunday morning comes along and I just happen to stumble on a web site that has a Japan release only 2016 RG 2770qza.
I see they have a shop through reverb so I check it out, send him an offer (the dance begins) and we settle on a price I can live with.
I kind of wish it had a maple fret board and matching headstock, but I don't have any 6 stringers with rosewood, so I figure can't hurt to mix it up. This being much more "my style" of guitar, I love flame/quilt tops and Honey burst type colors are my favorite
being shipped out tomorrow morning, if it's a keeper I think the 2 guitars I've been going back and forth on (the 1550M and the Charvel Dk24) will both be up for sale.
I'll post a total review once I get it.

you know I just could not get along with the charvel or jacksons idk why. the ibanez, strats and PRS are my thing. If i could only haveone it would be the PRS. it does absolutely everything. and they are quite stunning when in that wood stained color like you like. I cant wait to go home today to play. i have lodge meeting tonight so i have to play early..

My USA Jackson soloists are by far my favorite guitars but
the value on them has gone up so much that I am not going to gig them regularly anymore, they are both "mint" and
I'd like to keep them that way. MY MIJ Socal is my next favorite guitar, I'd honestly be good just gigging that
and my Les Paul, but I like 24 fret guitars so the Ibanez is really stepping in to replace the Jacksons.
If this one works out that is incoming I will gig these 3, the Ibby, the socal and my les Paul and hopefully for the love of god be done
buying guitars. this is getting beyond ridiculous.

I have wanted an Ibanez RG7620 since they came out, I have never been able to secure one. Not even a high end guitar, just one that was a dream guitar to have when I was young. Someday my prince will come.

really? Over the years I've had like10 7620's, I actually just sold one a couple of months ago, there is a red one on the FB market place right now
they are not as available as they once were but they are still out there, RG1527's are just as good and there are plenty of those out there for sale.

Is there any rational for the numbering system? 550, 760, 777, 7620, 1527? etc etc
