Okay so the drummer and I got together the other night to write some new material and every time he'd thump down on any of his skins I'd get a squeal so I got pissed (i put a few tung-sols in my preamp section on my uberschall which I've had odd luck with in my Peavey) because a tube had gone micro-phonic and they were brand new as of two weeks ago. The next night I decided to go searching for my reason and didn't need to look far (I think/hope); the effects loop was engaged...since I got the amp :scared: and the "send" was about a third of the way up which answered my "why is this amp so much quieter than my peavey?" Problem being (and I'm pretty new to gear knowledge) there was no cable from the "send" to "return" which is what I've been told you should do if you're going to use it for boost/attenuation. And here is my theory on my preamp tube; because I didn't have a load in the loop and it was engaged, it ate my tube. Yes/no?

Go easy.

No, your tube just got ate. Preamp tubes have no load. What goes in, comes out.

Should I be concerned? I don't want to overlook a bigger issue in just replacing the preamp tube.

Thanks

Nothing to be concerned about at all. Replace the tube and rock on.......

What year is your Uber by the way? Newer ones will not make a sound with the FX loop engaged and nothing plugged in.
