W rehersed today and I've got to play on a marshal 1960 cab,
a jcm900 cab I think which was loaded with T75's, sounded really bad,
the cab itself looks really old and bashed to be fair.

Anyone got good results with 75's? EQ suggestions?

I have a Scumback M75 / H75 mix that is doing very well for me -- though I am intrigued by the new J75s that appear to approximate this mix. Granted I'm playing through a Rev 2 Uber, not a TJ.

You should try em; if you don't like you'll be able to unload very easily.

El34's
and dial a lot more mids in
stock 1960 lead cabs like extremely middy amps
everything else tends to get muffled, although there may be exceptions

Played an XTC with them and wasn't nearly as happy with the sound as I was with v30's or the Splawn Big Block/Small Block combo. Not the same amp, but IMO Bogners need a non-scooped sounding speaker to shine.

I agree. They like the high mid amps, not the chewy lower mid/darker amps like Bog's.

My twin jet has el34's, I ordered it with them.

The roadster of my friend cut alot better in the mix with that cab
I gotta say, although he tends to EQ the amp to be super tight and
he uses a booster in front of it, I used to use a booster infront of my rivera when I had it but I loved the bogner through ENGL\Rivera cabs without one, I'm tunning my amp to be alot more open sounding.

But this 1960 cab... wow it sounds awful.

I started thinking about maybe switching the SD's on my framus panthera,
it has a JB in the bridge, but I think that through any other cab I loved my setup.

Its probably that big dip in the frequency response in the upper mids that you are hearing (or not) with the Twin Jet and T75's. Whereas, something like a V30 has more of an upper mid spike. Mixed together, they do well, but alone - not.

I used to run my old Uberschall in a Mesa Recto cab with V30's and it sounded great. As it also did with the Ubercab when I got one.
