Every time I switch between them at the same volume, or atleast as close as I can get them to identical, I can never decide whether I can detect a slightly different tone. It's so slight that it really doesn't matter but I just wanted to check whether it was just me. Ya know, the same kinda thing as how the mode switches on ch1 make a slight difference in channel 2.

Any insight?

yup...I feel Master 2 makes the amp a bit more compressed.....but nothing that noticeable :)

Actually, on mine, master 2 opens up the sound (less compression), and makes things a bit brighter. It's definitely noticable. I use it cracked just slightly higher than master 1 (for 2nd half of verses or bridges, etc for dynamics) and just use channel 2 for leads. I personally really like this feature, as it gives me more tonal options.

I don't hear a difference  I usually use Master 1 as a mute, all the way down.

yeah could be as gloryhog and ed say I don't remember.but one of em makes the amp feel a bit more compressed.

Just STOP!

To much gear snobbery going on in here.

Afaik Peter already explained that differences between the masters are because of production tollerances of the pots. The circuit is identical.

When i had my Einstein i noticed a slight difference but nothing too severe. I would also say it was a little more "open" sounding too.

Interesting, thanks.

Yeah, it's only very slight but I wondered if it was something I was imagining.

I own an 08' Namm Einstein and there's a tiny difference but both masters are musical and no problem for me anyway.User " hard n heavy" has the other 08 namm head..I'd love to hear more about the "Hagen" and if there's a rackmount preamp in the works.
