Traded a bunch of rack gear and a little cash...
(he took my Mesa 2:90, Marshall JMP-1, Rocktron Hush Super C, and a Furman PL-Plus, and a 6 space SKB case + a little cash) for ...

a Diezel Herbert and a case.

Looks like I'm going to have to update this signature picture, since i no longer have the 5150 either...

and I will be adding and reposting my comparison clips comparing the Herbert to the Mark V, Recto Pre500, marshall Jcm800KK, and 5150.

so as for my initial reactions to this amp...which Peter has verified as a 2004 Herbert.

It is definitely a different tone than I have in the other amps, so a good addition for now.

It is definitely much more compressed than my other amps, which feel more open and raw.

It is loud as all hell. My ears are definitely ringing at the moment.

it seems to be pretty tight.

It came loaded with 6L6's on each side, and EL34's in the middle. JJ's.
I am not a fan of 6L6's, so will have to change them out eventually. since this particular amp does not have the external bias points, this however, may make me hesitate to experiment as much with the tubes, since it is going to be more of a pain in the ass to bias, apparently.
However, I may have to rob the EL34L's out of my recto to at least try in the Herbert to see how it effects the tone from the 2 sets of 6L6's that are in there.

I did a demo recording of the amp, and will post it shortly in my other amp comparison posting.
