'83 JCM 800 2204, Elan Memran "Metalhead" modded Marshall. $old

- I really hate to have to let this one go. Excellent fully functional condition, recapped within the last couple of years. This is the best sounding amp I've ever heard or played, and it literally took me years to track one down. If you're not familiar with the Metalhead modded Marshalls: Elan Memran had a shop in the 80's in LA called "Metalhead Electronics", and he did these high gain mods for musicians in the area at the time. One of these musicians was Dino Cazares prior to his Fear Factory days. The mod adds extra gain stages which are switchable in and out of the circuit with a push/pull pot. When the gain knob all the way to the right is pushed in, the circuit is a bone stock JCM800. The amp also features two additional gain controls for plexi style tone shaping, a pull bass boost on the bass knob, and a built in noisegate on the back with a push/pull put to engage or disengage. THIS is the sound of the early Fear Factory and the first Brujeria albums. Lots of tight and exceptionally defined gain available, and the noisegate works incredibly well and is transparent.

By the time Fear Factory became popular, Elan had already closed his shop up for good and these mods were no longer being done. So this is easily one of the rarest Marshalls you can hope to get your hands on. A number of high profile builders have tried to acquire and copy these mods, but this one is the real deal. Buy with confidence and enjoy one of the best high gain sounds you can possibly get your hands on.

2014 Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier 100w Multi-Watt in Black Bronco tolex. $old

-100% perfect working condition. Brand new quad of EH EL-34s. It must have taken a roll during shipping as the feet on one of the transformers is bent. I had my tech go through to amp, no damage to chassis/headshell/internals and the issue is cosmetic only.

BAE 312a Single Channel Preamp with External Power Supply. $750

-Highest quality clone of the classic API 312. Excels at drums, heavy guitars, and vocals. Great sounding DI as well. Lots of hit records have been made with these BAE units (guitars and drums on "Core" by STP, for example). Gain knob was cracked and fell off so I glued it back on. Unit functions as it should and sounds fantastic.

Apogee sold.

Darkglass pedal and BAE preamp left.

The ensemble is fantastic yes, no question about it. I tried to justify getting a symphony, but I couldn’t. I have the ensemble and don’t see myself getting rid of it anytime soon.

Some killer stuff here, good luck with the rest of the sale.

The A>D conversion is where I've really noticed the difference with the Symphony MkII. Especially after the tracks stack up. Better separation and imaging, everything sounds like it was recorded in a major studio. Even running my Superior Drummer 3 tracks out, through a Silver Bullet, and then back in made a big difference. The D>A conversion is extremely similar between the two, though. I think the Ensemble is a beastly all purpose interface and an incredible value for what they go for used these days. They're still selling them new or refurbished on the Apogee site for $3k.

Darkglass sold.

BAE preamp still available, killer sounding preamp!
