SOLD!
These were in a mid-70s Creamback cab I bought. The other two were actual Creambacks but these two look to have been reconed a long time ago. 1777 cones which Celestion used but with smaller dustcaps I thought. They have more low end than a Green/Cream/Blackback and are not as colored/crunchy in the mids, warm highs. I'm really guessing on these, I don't really know anything about them. The surround (or whatever its called, brain fart) on these is damaged, some of it stuck to the cab and was a bitch to get off. See photo, both are like this. SOLD!

If both of these have FG codes on the frame they date to June ‘74 build which means they might be the original speaker frames with a 1777 recone. The large dust cap throws me off. I know Jim at Scumback has a variation of his speakers with large dust caps...

That's exactly what I think they are. But what voice coil? Based on sound and the large dustcap my very uneducated guess is they were reconed with G12-65 kits. Which AFAIK would make them 65 watt speakers but I'm not claiming them to be that. And being so non-standard (I think?) makes them not worth as much. They would be great for thickening up a small low powered 1x12 combo or something like that.

@SpiderWars Ok, what I see, what they are, what they aren't.

What I see: T1221 FG21 (June 2, 1975) G12M 16 ohm 25w _________ backs (probably black, could have been grey or cream, too) is what the frame is.
What they are: Cone looks to be a 1777 75hz Kurt Muller cone, but if they're original cones (possibly), someone has done some work on them to put large dust caps ala G12-65 on them. I'm guessing they dented a dust cap, or they had something get in the voice coil gap, glue came off the original small dust caps, something. But the dust caps have been replaced for sure.

What they aren't: They are no longer a collectible Celestion due to the modifications.

Do they even work, or do they have voice coil rub, scraping sounds or some odd noises?

Hi Jim,
Thanks for your response. They work and don't have any noises but they don't sound anything like a GB/CB/BB. The low end is more like a 65 or 75 but even more pronounced and those crunchy mids are not there and the highs are subdued. Boomy in a 4x12 imo. They probably have an application but just not for me. And they just sold so I'm into the cab (with handles already screwed on, but not T-nuts) and 2x Creambacks (with 98700 cones) for around $450. Not bad and it has 2 jacks which is nice. I had an extra '73 GB and '76 BB and now that cab sounds REALLY good.
