Ok so if my clients pay me this week and since I sold my Axe II should I jump on a deal for a used SLO? :D
One of the few amps left I want to add to the stable  And I like the color BUT…it has the effect loop…can I get the mod with the switch that will take it in or out of the circuit?

From what I can tell has Clean/Crunch, Depth mod Effect loop, 2 mini switches next to the Volume Bright/normal Crunch/Clean, and Line out

Anything I should want or look for?
$2800 + shipping about right?

 :scared:

Sounds like it has the scoop and Warren Hayes mod in addition to the depth mod. Just missing the switch to take the FX loop out. Otherwise it has all the mods. Whether that's a good thin or not depends on who you ask. Seems like a reasonable price for an almost loaded SLO.

Love my stock SLO, but I can see why it's not the amp for everyone.

Soldano will do the fx loop mod. I'm not sure how much it affects the tone if you don't use the loop. Some swear by it but of course you know how we are about reading into things and hype.

That's a solid price for that amp: the two switches are as CARDINAL noted above.

Well if I get paid before it sells I will have a NAD

Killer amp! I used to own one years back and it slayed. Put KT-66's in it and stand back as the gates of hell and heaven open and collide.

Made in 2004. Factory Depth Mod included, and it ships with a red flight case.

Nice, that's a dream amp for me so I hope it works out for you. Having the flight case is just icing on the cake.

$2K including the flight case?? that's a killer deal..

in my opinion I prefer the sound of the slo with the effects loop, i think it is a important part of the slo sound.

i have played both versions, and I prefer the one with the loop.

From what I gather of the SLO effects loop, there's some debate as to whether it acts as a "gain" stage for the amp or not. There's at least a theory that it's not transparent and acts to smooth out the amp and dump in extra gain. The amp sure as hell doesn't need extra gain, but I love it's smooth feel and tone. I know nothing about how amps work, so don't ask me what the loop is actually doing...

Tubes would effect the tone more than loop or no. Speakers will effect the tone more than tubes. ;)

The FX loop is not a problem, unless you're running pedals in it. It's completely fine with 95% of the rack stuff.

Keep in mind 99% of the SLOs you've ever heard on a record, or in concert with any of the guitar heroes had the loop.

I think we tend to overthink stuff sometimes too much in these gear forums.

Not running pedals into the loop. Soldano Space Box would be the only effect I run in the loop. I doubt I would have any issue with the loop specially since it will be my only SLO. :D If anything I would run line out to wet effects like a TC 2290 and stereo amp to 1x12 cabs. Damn I like that idea already

Go for it! Its the best amp I've ever haad! If you don't like it you'll be able to get your money back. I run the TC X4 in the loop and it works perfect!

I need to get paid :gethim:

This is true. The SLO and the Diezel VH4 always seem to bring the best resale value, and both are around the $2700 - $3200 range.
