This is on my list of amps that I am not familiar with.

I remembered that William rocked one with his band and Jerry's solo tour. Not only was his voice amazing but that SLO sounded sweet!

What song, record, YT clip best shows the SLO's flavor?

If I remember correctly, Lynch used a SLO on his solo album. This has always been one of my favorite Lynch tones.

I thought George's main amp on Sacred Groove was a Bogner Ecstasy?

Yep I think your right it was a proto XTC

The SLO is my all-time favorite amp. I will own one somedays. Anyhow, EVH has the 3rd SLO. I believe he recorded Summer Nights with it and a steinberber

I don't think EVH got his SLO until 1989. ON TOP OF THE WORLD's solo was recorded with it.

The SLO is a remarkably versatile amp which belies its simple layout.
It's my favorite amp of all time.

Pretty sure you're right Jim. It was on this album for sure.

Do a YouTube search of Warren Haynes....he has played one pretty much the last 25 years...

Or you can look at any of Claptons stuff in the 90's....its pretty easy to spot in this one once the intro is over..LOL

Gary Moore used one quite a bit in the early 90's as well, and Warren D's current rig is based around the SLO.

Pretty much all the big names used a SLO at some point in time, whether it was recorded, gigged, or just jammed on

I've owned an SLO and HR50+XL combo amp. Played most of the Soldano line. They have a very distinctive tone that is killer for some things but not others. Even if you're not a RATT fan this album is a pretty accurate example of what the Soldano high gain tone sounds like.

Love Warren Demartini's tone.. does he play them on the lead channel or the crunch channel opened up and boosted? They can sound fizzy at high gain and i don't hear that with his tone..

Really this has been done to death on many threads on the Internet.

Add

Motley Crue/Mick Mars
Blondie--current guitar player on tour is using a SLO
Mark Knopfler
Mark May (blues)
Lou Reed
Vai (Fool for Your Lovin)
Satriani at one point
B-52s believe it or not

etc etc etc ad infinitum

True. I like having your opinions, too.

Thanks for posting tunes, guys!

I tracked with one years ago but didn't get a chance to spend time with it.

I can't take my SLO from Stand by and not play Dr. Feelgood. Even if Mick Mars recorded that particular song with one of his modded Marshalls, the SLO nails it perfectly!!!!

Nice Grind!
