OK, so I've got OS Bogner 2x12 & basically I don't use anything else right now, it's smoking. Just sold Mesa 2x12 & 1x12 Mesa will go too, hopefully soon.

Now I have:
4x12 Mesa Rectifier
Bogner OS 2x12
1x12 Bogner

Mesa top is too harsh & bogner's woody character is amazing & top is smooth, I dig that.
Now I wanted to keep Mesa 4x12 as classic cabinet, but screw classics, I don't use anything classic anyway
So getting a Bogner 4x12 seems to be a safe bet, however it would be nice to have Diezel 4x12 if I knew it would be smooth & singing wood like Bonger, that way I'd have cabs from both of my favorite manufacturers.

What you think?

I'd put some baffling in the back of your mesa cab (like bonger does) and I bet you'll be very happy with the tone and it will help darkin the top end a little bit.

The thing is that it's harsh right in front of the speaker & since this is my recording setup it is important. Do you think baffling will help in this kind of situation?

my Diezel 412 is more harsh in front of the speakers too (compared to my boger uberkab). I put the poly-fiber batting on the back panel and that help out. It still has more focused highs- but I think thats more of a v30 thing. I like it alot more when I stand to the side and play.

Well they should be pretty close to the same sounding speaker used in both cabs so yeah I would be willing to bet that it would help. I haven't tried it as I don't find my Mesa cab harsh or anything.

Have you considered getting a Cameron 4x12? I think they are awsome. And the price is right too.

what speaker do you like? I've got a couple 4x12's with different speakers and find the V30's are ok with some amps and shitty with others.

Diezel 412R with H30s
Mojo 4x12 with Greenies
Mesa old school half back with MC90s

Just do not like V30s, I have heard great clips with them but I could never bound with them.

I was thinking about swapping 2 of the v30s in my Diezel 412R for H30s. How does all h30s sound versus all v30 when playing a Herbert or other Diezel?

The guy I bought it from had a VH4 and it killed on this cab, several others on HCAF have heard this cab and also cursed it............it has NO handles   Story goes it was a custom cab for Ultra Sound Studios in NYC and Ultra sound is written on the inside.

Due to the lack of handles it will probably never leave the basement

The H30s are darker with lower mid spike than the v30s imo, the boogies love H30s.

MC90's are a cool speaker. The H's I don't like as much. I have one cab with lead 80's and that thing sounds clean. I haven't tried Greenbacks, would really like to.

Thanks - that sounds like something I would like.

Thanks, this is very informative! That means Bogner wins for my taste & I do like V30s & I'm gonna stick with them. Probably later I'll get another 2x12 with other speakers, probably custom made of hardwood, but I'm pretty damn happy with the tone I get from V30s.
Now the only question left is if new Diezel cabs have this situation fixed.

As for other cabinets, I just don't feel like running around & trying new gear again, I'm sick & tired of it.
It's time to make music.

Wait for the new Diezel cabs with hempcones and the "semi-open" feature.

I'd just throw in a couple g12t75's in your Mesa cab, the mix with V30's is very nice. My Avatar cab has that speaker combination and it's a smoother sounding cab than my Mesa.

Yeah, I used that combo in my old Rivera cab. It sounded great. I think the V30 is a great speaker in a live environment. To me, the added midrange that many find grating when playing alone, is a plus in a band mix with.

I totally agree.
A lot of players tweak and tweak alone by themselves in a room when it's a whole new ball game when put in a different venue with a full band that you need to mix with.
I'm new to V30's, and I love their projection and crisp, wide, midrange bark.
