So Wargasm pops up in my YouTube feed and I’m like, no way, Wargasm is still around..but no. It was just, lame hip hop duo, trying desperately to rip off Die Antwoord.
This…..is Wargasm (88 or 89 I think).

Yeah, went to a few of their gigs when I lived in Boston in the early 90’s. Also poor Seka who had to change their name because of the porn star..lol

Rich Spillberg is a riff machine and a damn fine lead player too. I picked up the reissues of their first two CDs a few years ago. Everything about them was cool except the vocals which suffered from the unfortunate, somewhat common scenario of, "well, we can't find a decent singer so the bassist/drummer/or guitarist will just have to make do and fill that void".

Ain’t that the truth. Finding a good singer was hard enough but finding one who was a good front person and actually had a work ethic….fucking Unicorn! ?
I hated it when the realization hit me back then that without a good singer, no band I was in would do anything. Nothing like having a band, your dream, hang on the one person in the band who never had to do any physical work or spend any real money on what they do.

I grew up in Boston, before moving to Los Angeles. I used to sneak into the Rat. Middle East...clubs on Lansfowne as a little kid. Sam Black Church, Gang Green, Strawdogs. It was an amazing time.

Big Catholic Guilt, Meliah Rage, Steel Assassin, Grip, Dr Bewekenheimer.
