and I'm underwhelmed...

Let me start off that I've only listened to it so far with headphones using a cab emulator into my mixer.

It sounds good, but no better than my Tech 21 RK5. That being said, the RK5 is my favorite pedal ever.

The tone sounds fantastic from the Friedman of course... I don't even know what I was expecting... but I was hoping for a different color than my RK5.

Sounds almost identical.

I'll try it with my amp tomorrow... might be going back though.

I liked the pedal but I sent mine back today. Even with the trim pot I could not lower the gain to my liking. Perfect pedal for someone who does not have a hi gain amp or wants another dirt channel for their hi gainer. I just had no use for it even though it sounded good.

I would say the pedal hitting some real tubes would sound a lot better!

Just got mine. Plugged it into the clean ch of a Vintage Modern with a Strat and it RIPS! I have many other distortion pedals including the JHS Andy Timmons, but I was VERY impressed with the Friedman.

Isn't lowering the gain like softening an erection???

Try it thru the best sounding clean channel amp you have. If your still not happy, then send it back, but through a tube pushed clean channel, I think it does really well. I have a 64' Super Reverb. This oedal turn that amp into a fire breather and with a tap of a button, right back to one of the best clean tones on the planet!

Absolutely agreed - I just got mine and ran it into my deluxe reverb.....it put a huge smile on my face

It's really not an OD, more of a distortion pedal for a good clean amp.

My '69 100w Plexi clone build is super clean, but still has that Marshall punch in the chest vibe to it. The BE-OD really sounds nice through it. Took a lot of dialing in, but once I found the sweet spot, it blew me away. I can't remember the last time I got carried away practicing and totally lost track of time. But that happens all the time now with this new setup. Yesterday I took it to my amp tech, who wants to a/b/c it with the Carl Martin Plexitone and his own homemade pedal. So now I'm without it and miss it. I'll be playing my SLO until he's done with the pedal.

I agree it is more of a Distortion Pedal than an OD and that is why I bought it. It also works great in the LG/Low Input channel of the Cameron Atomica. I have an early 70's Fender Silver Face Twin Combo I need to try it with and the Gower KK++ Clean Channel, but I dig it on the Atomica LG Input with no clipping.

Sounds like the RK5 might be a cool pedal?

My BE OD came in at work this morning. Tonight I get to see how it sounds thru my Quilter Tone Block and my Randall Thrasher. I hope it's cool. Otherwise back it goes. Opinions seem all over the place so far. Some clips sound decent.....others be it horrible playing and/or lack of proper tonal adjustment (buzzy/fizzy sounding) seem otherwise. That's why you try it yourself. I hope it doesn't sound as similar to the MXR 5150 as one you tube reviewer was saying. That pedal did not do it for me even though I enjoyed Pete Thorn, Ola Englund, and Fluff's videos?

I can't imagine your needing this pedal with those amps.

True but when does a guitar player really "need" much?

I actually want the pedal for my quilter so I can just lug that around for an ultra light rig. So far I like the pedal.....it's not OMG but it's cool..5 minutes in and it is already better than the MXR EVH...
