Hi,

What are the requirements for a speaker cable for a 100Watt
amplifier w.r.t. diameter of the two wires: 1,5 mm^2 each?

Jan

for example :
SOMMER CABLE - Meridian SP215

TECHNICAL DATA:
Construction (2LIY1.50mm2)Y
Diameter 6,8 mm
No. of conductors 2 x 1,5 mm2
Material jacket, insulation PVC
Copper strand per conductor 84 x 0,15 mm
Conductor insulation, diameter 2,62 mm

so I = squr (P/R)

R min = I max, so at 4 Ohm up to 5 Amperes are going thru the cable. No shielded cable I know of handles 5 Amperes. And shielded cable has a higher capacitance as unshielded - just use standard cable as for lamps or other mains connections and cut it as short as possible.
