in my ENGL XXL 4x12" cab i replaced 2 of the Vintage 30 with Eminence Legend GB12.
they're mounted in X pattern.

man, that rocks!
the shrillness from the V30 is reduced, but still not dull.
trebles are singing - not crying!
great middy rocksound like from the best hardrock aera.
bass is also not missing and tight ;) i have to reduce it.

i adjust the EQ at the herbert almost linear now.

what combination did you guys test yet or still use?

cheers, klaus

I play a Laboga Mr.Hector 3x12 Cabinet with
two Celestion Vintage 30 (16Ohms each) and one EVM 12L Black Label (8Ohms)

Nice mids, tight bass, nice mids, no shrill highs, and of course nice mids.
and before i forget, i have already mentioned the nice mids?

Try placing a beam blocker in front of your vintage 30's. It warms them up and stops the shrill direct frontal sound.

I'm going to use in my Schmidt 2x12, a pair of Tone Tubby hempcone speakers. One has an alnico magnet and the other a ceramic magnet. Tone Tubby calls this combination "Da Bomb".

My speaker combination... :m4:

I'm using a Marshall stereo Vintage 30 4x12 slant cab with my Einstein (mono, 16 ohm). I've replaced all four speakers: a pair of early 1980s Celestion G12 80 (444, 55hz bass cones) and a pair of Eminence Cannabis Rex hemp cones, in X-pattern. Weird combination which evolved over years of trying different speakers, but it's a great-sounding and versatile cab, which is what I need.

I've been using an eminence wizard 75 watts and a swamp thing 150 watts in my port city 2x12OS, great full spectrum, full bodied tone with my Einstein.

After hearing the new tonetubby hempcone cabinet at Download a few months ago I have been eying those tonetubbies.

I am wondering about the wattage of these speakers. I believe they are rated at 40 watts and id like to know if you guys think they'll stand up to my Einsteins 100 watts.

Should I go with the ceramic magnets or one of each? I play metal primarily
