Speaker replacement. Does every screw have to match?

I have a Marshall Origin vertical 2x12. The speakers are ok but thought about upgrading to Celestion Neo G12 speakers to get a better tone, and shave off about 8 pounds from the cab.

The Seventy 80 speakers have six screws i believe and the Neo speakers have 4. Does this cause some type of issue or is it just an easy transfer?

Also, I've never swapped speakers. Is this fairly easy or will I need counseling afterwards and turn to a life of crackpipes?

I think it is a great option rather than buying a whole new cab. However, I thought about buying an Orange 1x12 V30 and using it with my EVH 1x12. Not sure if it will be the same as using a 2x12.

4 screws/nuts is plenty, just tighten them in a cross hatch pattern like you was changing a car tire. Play for a week or so, then recheck them cause they can loosen up. You don't wanna crank em down like a lug nut though. Hand tight is good i.e snug, or you could potentially warp the basket getting stupid. If the ohms on the stock speaker is the same as the replacement you should be all good to re-hook the wiring up as it was before you took it out. Good luck Romanian reaper.

I might just keep the Marshall stock and sell it and get another 1x12. I have that EVH 1x12 and could stack it with an Orange 1x12 and get a V30 and Creamback combo.

You and @rsm are the rig-talk champions of gear. You do you brother. I hope you have a great Sunday. I'm headed down to the blues jam and seeing a bunch of great friends down there. Be well!!!

Another 1x12 is a cool option . You can experiment stacking them and finding which speaker sounds better up top and bottom or set them side by side . I’ve recently started stacking two 1x12s , sounds better to my ears than having them side by side . VonBonfire has good advice , don’t over tighten the screws, hand tight snug is good

😅😅😅 I'm trying not to be. I went years with just a Fractal Axefx-II and then ended up in a band again and now I think "what is good for gigs, what is good for home, what does both?"

That is good to hear with the stacking.

I swap out speakers all the time. Super easy process. You are fine with the 4 screws, as mentioned above. I absolutely love the changes a speaker swap can make - vast differences in tone for sure from speaker to speaker. I am not a fan of the 70/80, like many are. Honestly, these AV75s from Avatar have just been superb. I saw you were thinking of just grabbing another cabinet or something, that works too. Each cab will have its own thing going on as well.

As previously said, be careful tightening the screws. If you overtighten you warp the speaker frame, and then it won't ever sound like it's supposed to because it isn't flush to the baffle anymore.
