Gets great reviews.. under 500 USD and passive. No frills, looks dead simple when you see the guts yet the soundclips I listen to seem to retain the tone and the highs well enough until the very low levels but my main use is going to knock off a few DB's into my cab closet. It's just too loud to go full out in the house. Now I know what you will say, " Get a reactive load!" , " PS is the standard bro!". Except those reamp through a solid state power amp or tubes which change the tone of the amp as well. I have a Torpedo Reload, don't love it's attentuation and the fact that I am going through it's circuit before I hit my cab. If I have an AC30 I want to crank, I'm not going to put it through 6V6 for that sound. I don't need a line out or reamp, my Reload does it. I just want as close to the tone as i can get , just less volume.

Anyone tried it? This guy volume matched his clips as he lowered the DB

Everything I've heard about the SPL is that it's a good passive attenuator :dunno:

I would probably prefer a power station or reactive load of some sort, if I needed an attenuator, but if this fits your use-case everyone says it sounds decent - Comparable to the jet city jettenuator one in sound quality.

Apparently it requires a bit of EQ tweaking at the amp though, YMMV

I've never tried one personally, but people say good things about the sound - some slight bass and treble tweaking required

AFAIK about the construction, it's just a half dozen resistors inline - it might be feasible to build your own for very cheap if you're inclined
