Went looking at power amps today at lunch. All I saw was QSC. Not sure what to go with. The sales guys said that they are primarily for 4ohm and 8ohm connections, so I'll probably have to redo some speaker cabs...

I will be building a rack for a modular setup (RM4), or effects/modeler(1101), or eventually AxeFx.

What should i stay away from? I was thinking a nice 1000 - 1500w power amp for starters as I don't have the cash to pop for a tube power amp at this time.

At 350 brand new the carvin DCM1000 is hard to beat Bro... cheack evilbay, you should find one for even less...

I've got a barely used Carvin DCM 1000 watter that has been in the rack since day one - about 6 months old. I can get it to you for $250 shipped. I can get pics etc. PM if interested.

I would go with a Peavey classic 50/50. Cheap, and tube!!!

Also isn't there a Mesa 50/50 in the classified section for $350??

I had a Carvin FET 1000w amp was loud but very sterile. An ADA microamp 200 was better sounding, had a little warmth to it.SS didnt do my carvin quad X or other tube amps any justice. Why are you set on SS? Maybe go with one that has some preamp tubes in it.
