Standard TAD EL34's in Einstein which tubes?

Hi,

When i bought my Einstein few months ago, it was sold with TAD EL34's, but which tubes are they, SED, Shuguang, JJ....? Do you guys know.

btw, I tried TAD KT66 but compared to EL34 they didnt work at all. Muddy sound and loss of "articulation". I dont know about EQ chance but the nominal el34 tightness was gone. So back to EL34's :rock:

If you want to try other types: KT77 (not 66, thats more a flubby 6L6)
 
What would be proper bias range for pairwise KT77? I tried 80mA, 75mA and 70mA with KT66's, not much of difference :doh:

Im running my current set of EL34's in 61...63mA and it is great.
 
ok I will, but it might take a while. Just ordered the FANTASTIC-4 of SED EL34s.

This possibility of using different tube types has caused a severe neurosis, but me like it :lol: :LOL:
 
Once it sounds good, let it be until they need replacing. Tweak happy people can get a good combination and lose it if they are not careful. :doh:
 
you know, I agree 100% with you Terry. I've never been a tweaker and stuff, I recently changed the preamp tubes in my Einstein because the Little Joe had a a bad preamp tube and I swapped some preamp tubes from the einstein to see what was wrong and found out that the tubes that Olaf used in the little joe made the amp sound GREAT!

but I don't like to mess with stuff
 
Yes i know what you mean and i totally agree on that one. But the thing is that i newer had a amp like this and sometimes (thanks god only sometimes) the inner "gear-whore" wakes up and you want to try different combinations.

But yes i'll throw the multimeter out of window and start playing ;)

I was once that way but now I trust the builders and roll with how they intended it to be. Saves me grief, let's me play (hack) more and I have more time to help you guys :D
