Hello,

A Deizel 4x12 "stereo" cabinet with mono @ 8ohm and stereo @ 16ohm options, with 2 inputs on the rear panel (Side A 16ohm [mono 8ohm] and Side B 16ohm) - is this cabinet playable with a VH4S plugging into both Side A and Side B on the rear of the same cabinet??

I think I've read someone in this forum is doing just that - running the head in stereo into one cabinet. Please let me know what you think. Furthermore, what is your cabinet loaded with?

And last question - when looking at a VH4S, am I right in assuming that in mono, it's a VH4 and pumps out approximately 100W and in stereo, as in VH4S it's pumping out approximately 50W per side?

THANKS!!!
V.

Anyone?? Is this, like, a completely retarded question or is this just a "I really dunno" question??

Namaste,
V.

The VH4S is a stereo amp. The tubes in the power amp section will determine the output wattage. For the sake of simple conversation, the VH4S is stereo and the VH4 is mono. The VH4S has two power section (thus stereo output) and the VH4 has one output section...(thus mono). The VH4 for the sake of simple conversation....we will say is 100 watts. The VH4S is 50 watts x 2. You will always want to make sure that each "power section" has a load....or a cabinet plugged into it. I guess it is safe to say you can run one stereo 4x12 cabinet with the VH4S. In actuality, each power section is working 2 speakers in that 4x12 cabinet. I personally would always run a separate cabinet but that is me. DO NOT RUN ONLY ONE LOAD AND ONE CAB!!!!!

I hope this helps clarify. :)

This makes good sense, Duolos - thank you.

The cabinet I am discussing is a Diezel 4x12 loaded with Celestion G12H 70th Anniversary speakers. It is a stereo cabinet and therefore, I am assuming, considering it has both Side A and Side B inputs (as mentioned earlier) that I can run 1 VH4S into this cabinet with 2 leads from the amp directly into both inputs on the rear of the speaker.

I hope this is the case... I just picked up a nearly new VH4S with this cabinet off eBay and I'm toying with keeping it to replace my current VH4 with "other company" cabinet.

DO NOT RUN ONLY ONE LOAD AND ONE CAB!!!!!

=> Is this also true for Herbert. Which would mean that I connect my Herbert (on the 16 Ohms jacks) with my Stereocab which runs with 16 Ohms in stereo mode.

Am I correct?

The Herbert doesn't have a stereo power section like the VH4S. You could run 2 speaker cables from one stereo cab to one mono amp but it makes no sense to do so IMO.

I understand the fact that the VH4S is meant for basically 2 cabinets, or even 2 pairs of cabinets, in order to truly get a stereo spread - but everything takes time and money. So for now, I have this practically new head and stereo cab (not cheap) and my goal was to run them together, for now, until I have the chutzpah to buy another cab :D

Thanks for the info - this forum is awesome
