It's advertised as an Alnico 5 version of their "70's distortion humbucer", which is based on a Dimarzio Super Distortion. So it would be a kind of Alnico 5 DSD ?

Interesting. Have been pondering what pickups to swap into one of my new guitars.
Is it weird that this is 50mm pole to pole for an 80's shred guitar which may likely be FR equipped?

In my own recent pickup searching I’ve found that spacing difference to be not vital. Considering how many folks in the 80’s had regular humbuckers installed in their tremolo guitars and created some sick recordings. Duncan didn’t even come up with the trembucker versions until the very late 80’s.
I watched a vid a Warmoth guy did as well, where he a/b’d using the same guitar and you couldn’t hear a difference.

I get it, I just thought it was odd for a newer release. But I suppose it would make more sense to manufacture 50mm over 52/53 if you're only making one size.

Site says that it has 13k output. Maybe it's similar to Suhr SSH?

Edit: Just a heads-up, these pickups are apparently made in china, so i'd be careful of buying them.

I seem to be the only person with this issue, but I really notice the difference in spacing. With a regular spaced pickup but a wide spaced bridge, my "up stroke" picked notes sound weak/splatty compared to the down stroke picked notes. I'm assuming it's because the up stroke initially moves away from the pole piece (which is already far away).

I've had this problem with multiple guitars and an F-spaced pickup solves the problem every time.

What’s an upstroke?

…..signed hammer on, pull off guy

I only notice it palm muting on the low E. If you play a doublet or quadlet(?), you finish on an upstroke and IME it sounds terrible with a Floyd Bridge and narrow pickup.
