Looking for more, I saw one tiny thread on here a few pages back.

But Im looking for links/tips/tricks.

Want to string skip like no ones business..

I found a song I have been working on that was very difficult because of the string skipping.

Ive been playing the crap out of that song but im looking for other tools to utilize.

I really love the way string skipping translates through any type of tone. Clean, gain and uber gain. I never really had the ambition to work on it till I saw how transparent Paul Gilbert makes it look. I typically will do string skipping using Harmonic Minors. But, I also think you can take a simple pentatonic scale and make it sound cool utilizing the string skipping technique. Try this and let me know what you think.

Start on the A (6th string) start the scale as 1 to 4 (8th fret)
Skip the A string to the D string 1 - 3
go back to the A string 1-3
Skip the D string to the G string 1 - 3.
Go back to the D string 1 -3.
Skip the G string to the B string 1 -4
Go back to the G string 1 -3
Skip the B string to the E string 1 -4.

It is basic but really effective. I do it forward and backwards, picking, hammering, puling off and even tapping it at the 12 fret. The result is better technique across the board. I will practice it in all positions. To note...when I pick it backwards I always start with the upstroke.
