Stk power tubes in Renegade?

I was wondering if anyone else likes the stk power tubes? I messed with some NOS 6l6's and some different EL34's (JJ,EH ) stuff I had. I'm back to the stk Power tubes, sounding best IMHO. I did change out all the preamp tubes, they sound OK but, a little flat IMHO.
 
I have tungsol and kt77 and love them
I got an sed 6550 pair Ill sell ya

Not much diff 6550 are better,,I bought a quad and have 2 left over
 
thanks for the offer but, I have some KT88's I like tro try first. I think I have to remove tube holders first?

I'm still using the stock tubes :) !At some point i'll probably try something else but,right now,i'm satisfied :yes: In my experience,KT77's bring more bass & low mid but it's a compromise,as always.You gain here,you lose there..

I'm still using the stock tubes :) !At some point i'll probably try something else but,right now,i'm satisfied :yes: In my experience,KT77's bring more bass & low mid but it's a compromise,as always.You gain here,you lose there..

Since it's so easy to swap out tubes in the renegator, I got a set of new tubes from the tube store and will be swapping them out tonight to see... Uh... Hear what kind of difference it makes. I've never bias'd an amp before but there's a first time for everything!
 
I messed with Kt-66's and 6V6's today. Both sounded great IMHO. really liked the 6v6's on the clean channel, not good on the dirty channel. They have less volume and crunch up with nice highs. You get less head room with the 6v6's but I like that on my clean channel. I like the KT-66's and the 6v6's better then 6l6's that I tried.
 
I replaced all the tubes in mine. Went to KT88s and a pair of Siemens RFT 34s. Having said that, I didn't think changing the power tubes did all that much except for the extra headroom with the 88s. However, changing out all the pre tubes made a big difference in the tone of the amp. My .02.

agree 100% preamp tubes are big

Which preamp tubes did you use?
 
I'm all stock. Not surprising since I've had the thing for a week. I can't imagine a much better combonation, but I'm new to tube amps. I suppose everyone is going to develop preferences.

What's the tonal change with different preamp tubes? What did you change in them? Up or down in gain? Certain brand?

I hear ya, I've only had mine for a short time too but I wasted no time in trying out new tubes! For preamp tubes, I'm currently using Preferred Series 7025  PS-7025 which seems to sound really well. Very punchy but smooth tone. The main thing is to go with what sounds good to you.
 
I just tried a pair of JJ kt-88's with the stk EL34's. The KT88's just sound a lot fuller, like I put on heavier gauge strings (bigger bottom and fatter highs). still like the stk el34's a lot too . What country makes the prefered 7025 preamp tubes, Russia or CHINA?

I believe the preferred tubes are made in china... Not 100% sure on that.
