Last night my car was broken into, and they either knew that things were in my trunk or just got really lucky, but my mod 50 was stolen last night. It was loaded with VX and SL2 modules. I'm going to keep an eye out on my local CL and ebay, but I'm just hoping for the best right now. I think I'm gonna call Egnater later today to see if they have a serial number that it was. Please keep an eye out for me!

Thanks

Phil

Make sure you call all of the local pawn shops too. My buddy had something very similar happen to him, and he got about 75% of it back at the pawn shops.

This is terrible. It hurts to read about it.

We ought to keep an eye here to, if someone posts about a Mod 50 for sale. I'd watch eBay too- Mod 50's don't show up very often- If one all of a sudden shows up I'd be suspicious. Craigslist too.

You filed a police report right away right? Lots of times, if something isn't reported stolen, and too much time goes by, the pawn shop can't really help you if they already paid for it.

Some guy walked into the pawn shop here and said this Robin Strat had been stolen from him like 8 years ago.

The shop guy had to tell him, "No police report? Tough luck, bro. I can give you a 10% discount  ."

I filed a police report immediately when I saw it, and they have descriptions of everything. Much of the things stolen were customized to some degree by me, and even the Mod 50 I would KNOW if it was mine. Emailed jeff for a serial, but unfortunately he can't get one to me right now. They must have been watching my car because they knew it was in the trunk. The only thing that was in my backseat was a guitar rack, and they didn't take it.

This might sound stupid, but anytime I get gear, I always add my initials SOMEWHERE in the amp/guitar, in a very inconspicuous place. That way if something like this ever happens and I have to deal with some smarmy pawn shop owner, i'll at least have that as SOME evidence.

This is good advice. I think Im gonna do this.

Flump, man this sucks. I really hope you get it back. I fucking hate people who cheat their way through life when some of us work our asses off to be able to afford some nice things.

This really really pisses me off man.

Chances are is its someone who knows you too.

I'll keep my eyes peeled everywhere I typically shop (both online and IRL).

Anything you can tell us to help spot if its yours?

I'm almost positive they weren't musicians. They definitely knew it was in my trunk though. I'm guessing it was someone in my area that had been casing my car or had seen me put things in my trunk previously.

I highly doubt they know what they have for the most part. 2 of my 3 guitars were customized by me, and the third I completely built myself. It even has my name on it.

My mod 50 was loaded with the VX and SL2 modules. Also, the egnater logo on the front fell off, and right now there is hot glue remnants on there. I could see them cleaning that off before they sell it to a pawn shop though.

This kind of cuts a few ways. It makes it easier to identify the stuff if it shows up- But it is so easily identifiable they may not try to fence it for that reason.

Do you have any pics you could post?

There are so few used Mod 50's for sale- It is just possible that you may get it back if people are vigilant. Let's hope. If they are not musicians it's likely to show up for sale somewhere- Or maybe at a local gig in your area.

Guys, do yourself a favor, if you're gigging, or even if you're not, get musician's insurance. I keep my gear insured here:

https://www.musicproinsurance.com/InstEquip.aspx

It's not expensive at all -- $10,000 in coverage is less than $10 a month -- and it could save your butt sometime. If the gear is stolen from the car, you're covered. If your guitar gets smashed onstage by a nut, you're covered. If your amp falls out of the truck while you're driving ... you're covered. The deductible applies to each incident, not each piece, so if you lose $10k in gear, it's just one $100 deductible.

You will probably find, if you are playing professionally -- i.e. making $10 at the local bar, that your regular homeowner's won't cover the gear when it's out of the house.

No affiliation, just a happy customer.

This very thought just went threw my head today at work  Man this really does suck and as Matt said,I FUCKING HATE THIEVES!!!!!!!!Sorry for your loss !!

Dude, I hope you get it back or at least find out who took it. That totally sucks!
I agree 100% with the other post concerning gear insurance. It is a must when you have high dollar gear like this.

Russ, we know your good people mang! ;)

This is my concern. They may not even try to sell my guitar considering it is so easily identifiable. Hopefully they don't know a damn thing about guitars and do it anyway.

Here is a link to the harmony central thread I made about it with a complete list of the stuff stolen, and a picture of the custom guitar I made.

That is gut wrenching! I don't know how much help I can be of in Florida but I'll keep my eyes open.
