Strange phenomena: Converted VP4 chassis doesn't sound as...

So, I know Egnater built the Rocktron VP4. I replaced my faceplate with an M4 faceplate so it could take single channel modules.

Long story short, the Egnater Dual M4 chassis always sounds better than my VP4 single channel chassis.

Is it really just because of the chassis tubes, or is the newer M4 transformer higher performance? Does the Dual M4 chassi use better caps/resistors/etc?

Thoughts??

I have a Single Egnater M4 and a Dual Egnater M4...the Dual always sounds a little better to me...certainly warmer.

I'd heard it was simpler circuitry (the Single has the FX loops) and assumed the choice of resistors/caps made a difference.

See, that's the thing, my VP4 (single channel M4) DOESN'T have the fx loop.

I'm guessing it has to be different resistors and caps.
