Well, i got my WD custom pickguard (no pot holes drilled, i do them myself) and decided to do a quick mock-up.
I am still not sure i want to go this route or go std strat setup.
I am also not sure if i should go parchment white (like the pickup covers) or vintage white (like the knobs) for the accent color. Hell....i don't even think i am a fan of red, but that wont be changing until i get her all finished and setup.

Here are a couple pics:

That looks sweet dude, that 70s neck is soooo sexy...

Is it worth it? Are you doing it for the fun of it or to save some cash?

Either way it's cool. I did the same with a Kramer guitar (a couple of years ago) and it was truly fun. I remember going to a luthier with my "Frankenstein" Kramer and all he add to point out was that my neck wasn't perfectly sitting in the neck pocket, althought the instrument just played fine. It wasn't a big deal, he was talking millimeters, I suppose I did not drill the holes perfectly.

This Strat will look great!!

Mostly for fun. I wanted a MIA strat with a 70's headstock, 12" radius and vintage tint. Fender can't provide that ;)
I am definitively not saving money. I think the neck alone came to close to 400$ with the options i chose and the duty/brokerage. :)
It is better than any Fender neck i have tried.

Yeah...drilling the holes for the neck took me a while. I did lots of double checking.
Worse case, if I did screw up, i could always fill the holes and try again.

That looks great man. I have a neck just like that on a really old strat I got in the early 80's. I think it has West stamped on the end of it. Damn nice neck though. Think its time for a refret, hmmmmm.....

sweet dude! One question, how come u don't have two tone controls and the volume? just curious...I like the color and personally if this was mine, I would definitely get a parchment pickguard and leave all single coil spacing and put 6000 dunlup fret wire on it. Just my preference , i like speed bumps for frets. But overall really nice man! oh i would also get the Fender ( schaller) F-tuners for this puppy to really gic it that 70's vibe.

I normally always just put 1 vol, 1 tone, but i might put a std setup in this one if i buy a new pickguard.
I have to see what tuners are available. The holes are drilled for 'modern' tuners.

Looks good man, im looking to put a strat build together, from Musikraft. Im thinking a surf green or sea foam body with the big 70's headstock with a ebony board, or I may order 2 necks and get one of the charvel ones with a reverse strat headstock, too many choices on that site .

Looks good so far. I even like the red, maybe that is cause I have a red strat already.

So what pickups do you have in there?

They are great to deal with. Not the cheapest, but well worth it.
When i was looking for a body, i wanted seafoam or daphne.

Right now they are 10 year old MIA pups i had lying around.
I am just using them to get the strat finished.

I am thinking maybe a Bareknuckle Trilogy set or maybe some Dimarzios....who knows.
