I'm one of those that inadvertently moves the volume knob closest to the bridge pickup on Strats with the 3 knobs. This style of strat never worked for me.

Recently, I picked up an Ibanez AZ2204N which has only a volume and tone control leaving me more space near the bridge pickup.

I'm wondering if a pointer would deter my pinky finger from inadvertently moving the volume knob.

Anyone use pointers on strats for this purpose or actually use them on strats for more precise volume and tone?

What has always helped me , and is less expensive and easier to implement , is
a rubber " o " ring seal . Usually found in the plumbing section at Lowe's . Puts a little friction between the knob flange and the pickguard . Great for holding knob positions on pedals also .
Downside is you can't do volume swells with your pinky fingers . Cheap way to try . Good luck !!!

I like low friction pots and I do occasionally rub/hit the volume on a Strat. But I’m constantly on it, always making sure it’s where I want it (usually 10). I noticed other players doing that, constantly on that volume knob and started doing it. Now it’s like a habit.

What size?
OD smaller than the knob flange and ID bigger than the control nut . Lotta variable . Just making contact with the pickguard and knob is all you need . If you get thicker rings you bring the knob down on the pot shaft and adjust
for " feel " .

The O ring did the trick! I stacked 2-3 depending on how much resistance you like. Thanks!
